Friday, Miraflores

Today I discovered that it is already Friday, I had thought thursday. So only one day left to see Lima.
Before breakfast I walked into Rimac, a former Spanish quarter, but now a peoples quarter. At night it seems not to be safe, but in the morning it is interesting. After my breakfast I went to Miraflores, exactly the opposite of Rimac. Very comfortable and relaxing. I visited big excavations. At the end of the day I went to Museo d'Oro, about the long history of all cultures before the Spanish conquistadores. Not only the Incas, but also the many other cultures before the Incas, probably even more important

Arrival in Lima

This was quite a long trip. Via London and Miami to Lima. It took me about 29 hours, from early morning 3:30 to next morning 3:00, but with a time diference of 6 hours. Miami was bad, all those customs/imigration regulations and complicated movements. Reclaiming my luggage and bringing it to another point. And in Lima I discovered that they had not collected my departure note (imigration), so I will have a big problem next time when I will be in Miami, because they think I am still in the Usa. My hotel is an old palace, not too luxurious, but it has everything and it is renovated beautifully.

During the flight I had a lot of contacts with passengers with the same traveling interests as I have and I learnt a lot from them, especially some ideas about safety. After a very short night I got a good breakfast and had a long talk with an American guy who lived in Venezuela. These meetings help me a lot to get used to Peru as soon as possible. Lima is an interesting, dynamic city (12 milion citizens). I visited several churches, markets, shopping streets and Barranco, the seaside area. My Spanish is returning slowly, I can practice a lot.
